Hotel Granados 83 - Barcelona

Hotel Granados 83 - Reservation Hotel Granados 83 Barcelona – Hotel Granados 83

I was just looking aimlessly for hotels in Barcelona and came across this one. It seems to have a fairly decent price, they say they have transfers from the airport, but I am not sure where it is located. It does say that Las Ramblas is not too far away. It is just a suggestion since I have no idea about it. Lesley is going to ask her friend, Merril, who has been to Barcelona several times about where she stays. They also have a restaurnt and bar and room service so it can't be too bad!

Rome Hotels

I am going to post links to a couple of hotels in Rome. I think that we should go for it and stay the night in the city while we are there. These are both rather pricey, but I want to get it up for you to think about. The location is near Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, withing walking distance of just about everything (although may need a cab to the Coliseum). I think that the location is the most important thing here (and comfort - it is a very noisy city).

Hotel Raphael - we checked it out when we were there and I love the location. It is about 300 Euros for 2 for one night.

Hotel (or Albergo) del Senato - This is one of the most popular hotels on Trip Advisor, and it was recommended by several people on Cruise Critic. This is 335 Euros for 2 for one night.

Rome has hundreds of hotels, so if we want to do something less expensive I am sure we could find something.

Note: Judy's daughter stayed at the Ambasciatore Palace Hotel in Rome. This is located up on the Via Veneto about 10 minutes from Piazza Navona, etc. It looks like the least expensive room I saw was 295 euros per night. It did include breakfast.

Cell Phones

Nancy asked if any of us would be taking a cell phone (or renting or whatever). Do any of you have a GSM phone? It might be nice to have a phone among us for the trip. Over on Cruise Critic they recommended buying a phone from Mobal Rental It is $49 plus charge for minutes. I have not looked at the details yet.

Any ideas?

Okay, Carol found some other information about cell phones and using them internationally:

Hotel Violino d' Oro

I checked on the prices for this hotel, Hotel Violino. It is 3 star, but got good reviews on Trip Advisor. The standard room is 115 euro/night, the superior is 130 euro/night and a superior with canal view is 145 euro/night for the times that we will be there. It is near the vaparetto stop and the gondola stop. Near San Marco square and upscale shopping. One review said that their canal view room was a little noisey with people talking, etc. but most said it was a quiet hotel with friendly staff. Go to TripAvisor.com to read the reviews.
