Do we want to make a decision and delegate someone to get the hotel reservations in Venice? It seems to me that we have narrowed it down to these choices:
Hotel Violino
Pensione Calcina
All of the Venice hotel choices (including those in the notes I added to the post) can be found at this post. This has the links to the hotels, the prices, etc.
I checked for availability at the Hotel Becher and they did not have two double rooms left. I checked with Hotel Violino and it seemed that they did have rooms. To check with the Pensione you have to send an e-mail and I did not do that.
So ... there are lots of great hotels out there, but we do have to decide at some point and it seems that things are filling up.

Venice Restaurants
Do we have a post on this topic? Here is a link to a restaurant that was recommended by several people on Cruise Critic: Ristorante da Raffaele. Looks nice.
Rome Bus
Here is a new option for Rome - Hop On and Off bus from Viator. It is less than $25 for 24 hours, and you can also get it for 48 hours. Although I have to say that most of what we want to see is in the first few stops. Anyway, we could take the train in (say $15 roundtrip), tour for the day this way, spend the night, wander around the next day and then take the train back. There was one post about someone's train being 3 hours late. Uh-oh.
Fun? Or we could get a private limo on the second day to take us around and home?
