Okay, Carol and I got on the phone and coordinated making reservations in Barcelona at the Hotel Colon. It is off the Las Ramblas near the cathedral and was recommended by Karen Brown, here. Also, see the discussions on Trip Advisor.
Alex reported that grabbing a taxi at the airport is probably cheaper than arranging a transfer and that "taxis run approximately 25 Euros." Maybe if you want to arrange a pick-up at the airport, each of you can contact Alex or the hotel and find out about that. Otherwise since we are coming in at different times we are on our own for getting to the hotel.
The transfer to the ship we can talk about later. So the next decisions we need to make are about the tours and shore excursions. Think about this.

Reservations Made in Barcelona!

United Charges to Check Second Bag
So, did you hear that United has started charging $25 to check a second bag on domestic flights? This is really annoying and although it does not appear to apply to us on our international flights (or for those frequent flyers in the elite category like Carol) it still makes me want to fly a different airline. I used to check one bag and take one on with me, but the one I took on was the one full of all that dangerous liquid stuff that I can't carry on anymore!! Grrrrrr...
So, looks like they got us coming and going!

Rome Hotel Reservation made
I did it! I made the reservation for the Rome night at the Hotel Raphael. Another link to the hotel, here. Whew! So we only have the Barcelona hotel to figure out. Carol was working on that, but she is in LA? or skiing? or whatever!
This is getting even more exciting!
