Pompeii, again

Yay! We have reached an agreement with Barbara about being our tour guide for the Naples/Pompeii/Herculaneum area for the entire day on November 7. She will provide the car and tour for both of the archeological sites. She seems quite agreeable:

During our day together I will fit the tour on you and you will determine where you want to spend more time, my aim will be, not only to put on your disposal as much as possible of my knowledge, but expecially to make you feel at ease.
Of course the down side is that to avoid the bus with the 50 other people, to avoid the cameo factory, we will have to pay the "upgraded" excursion price. The cost for the entire day is 700 euros, plus the entrance fees for the sites and lunch. Today that is about $1,100, which divided by four would be about $275 plus other costs. Compare this to the Exclusive Amalfi tour from the ship for $345 (includes lunch and the cameo factory!) (NP08). There are other less expensive all day tours ranging in cost from $134 - Sorrento and Pompeii (NP15), $149 Amalfi Cost & Pompeii (NP04), $149 Capri (NP05), $134 Sorrento and Amalfi (NP07), $219 - Capri, Sorrento & Pompeii (NP02). Half day tours are in the $60 range.

Here is a link to the Cruise Critic review of the port of Naples.

This may be one port where we do not all go on the same tour. If you would rather not spend the money or would rather not spend the time walking around archeological sites, that would be understandable. We can discuss this when I come down in May/June. BUT if you know you do or do not want to choose this option, you can let Carol or me know so that we can look around for someone else to share the tour (or not).
